While developing a self-righting and balancing crutch for McKesson (Truland) over two years, EGG developed the first “multi-axial” handle given higher occurrences of wrist damage from long term crutch use. As the NeoPod IP package included the self-adjusting foot, which was the client’s primary interest, but as two patents were applied for in development, EGG retained the multi-axial handle for its own development, and further developed it for industrial tools, motorcycles, and cycles, which accounted for over 20,000 (reported) worker’s comp and insurance claims for carpal tunnel damage due to off-angle grip and heavy force.
